FOREST THEATRE COMPANY presents
ELEKTRA
November 14 – 29
Ezra Pound’s Elektra is a striking modernist adaptation of Sophocles’ ancient tragedy, first translated in 1949 in collaboration with Rudd Fleming. Pound’s version preserves the raw emotional power of the Greek original while infusing it with his signature precision and poetic intensity.
The play tells the story of Elektra, consumed by grief and rage after her father Agamemnon’s murder. Bound by vengeance and haunted by the past, she awaits the return of her brother Orestes to reclaim justice and restore the house of Atreus. In Pound’s hands, this timeless drama of loyalty, retribution, and fate becomes a fierce and lyrical exploration of human will and consequence.
