Kick your holiday season up a notch, as the Madison Street Theater magically transforms into Madison Square Garden with two of the area’s finest retro cover bands. Join us as we take you on a sleigh ride of classic rock and holiday classics, from early ‘60s American rock and roll to ‘80s glam rock – where mistletoe and tinsel meet pointy guitars and surfboards.
Captain Rat and the Blind Rivets, stalwarts of the Champaign/Urbana music scene, make a rare Chicago-area appearance for this special event. If you attended U of I at any point in the past 40 years, you know these guys – they have been legends since 1980 for their boffo stage show, featuring props, silly hats, funny faces, zany antics, and of course, great ‘50s and ‘60s rock ‘n roll, expertly performed.
Ginger hails from the Chicago-area directly, and picks up right where the Blind Rivets leave off, recreating the high-energy spectacle of ‘70s and ‘80s arena rock, but up close and personal. Ginger’s motto is simple: the more ridiculous the better, yet played with the utmost sincerity. Ginger will fill your “Heart” with the spirit of the season as they take you on a “Journey” aboard the “Trans-Siberian” express – unless you live in the “Styx,” we expect to see you there!
